Every one of these started as a problem on a real floor — a drawer that would not balance, a fault nobody logged, a file three people were looking for. They are shaped by the shift, not by a feature list.
The people using these are not at a desk. They are at a pass, on a corridor, closing a till at one in the morning. Screens are built to be read at a glance and operated with one hand.
Cash is counted against what the records say, differences have to be explained while somebody still remembers, and anything corrected afterwards leaves a trail with a name on it.
Hospitality happens on mobile data and hotel wifi. Work carries on when the signal goes, and catches up when it returns, rather than stopping until somebody finds the router.
